Problems in relations with African countries. In 1964, the leadership of Guinea complained about the pilots of the presidential helicopter. Both the helicopter and the crew were provided by the USSR. From the Guinean point of view, they did not greet the head of the country in the right way and thus undermined the prestige of the Guinean state. After an investigation Moscow attributed it to the pilots' poor knowledge of the French language and protocol. And in 1962, one crew had already been recalled. At that time the pilots were unable to get the helicopter with the president off due to the technical reasons which displeased the Guineans. Responding to the new complaints, the Soviet leadership strongly emphasized the close and friendly ties between the countries. They also added that they would consider not sending new pilots and helicopters to Guinea in order to preserve these friendly ties, so that it would not become a cause of conflict.
